FALL 2022 FUNDRAISER CAMPAIGN
LIMITED EDITION PRINTS FUNDRAISER ALERT !!!!!
As part of our commitment to promote youth sailing in the South Bay, we will be raising funds for donations through print sales of the painting "Little Fisherman" as seen above.
The much adorned original painting lives on the wall in the Yacht Club upstairs above the piano.
Many members used to spend summers at Catalina island Fisherman's Cove, back in the day.
The club took lease of little Fisherman's Cove in 1952. This print, of the original painting by staff commodore Nixon Galloway, shows the Two Harbors area of Catalina Island, with Little Fisherman's Cove in the foreground and Isthmus Cove behind it. Over the years members built the A-Frame and had BBQ's and picnic tables. Many of the founding members boats are shown here anchored at 'The Cove'. On busy weekends, we would have 40 boats anchored. It was a tough place to anchor because the Isthmus Fan could blow hard on the beam, but the members would always help new arrivals, and needless to say, everyone became pretty good at anchoring.
Unfortunately, these memorable summers at the Cove had to end in 2010 due to increased lease fees.
Mike Galloway (Nixon's son, yacht club member and KHYF board member) has graciously donated numbered, limited edition prints of this iconic picture for the Youth Foundation to sell, as a fundraiser.
This lovely, unframed print can be yours for $100.-
