Welcome to the King Harbor Youth Foundation, a non-profit corporation created to promote youth sailing in Southern California. The foundation was established in 1982 by King Harbor Yacht Club members who foresaw the Club's future in the development of young sailing enthusiasts. Not only has that been realized, but the program has grown in size and scope, offering opportunities for all youth in the community to participate and experience the thrill of sailing and develop skills and confidence that come with good seamanship and the Corinthian yachting tradition. We are proud to support our Juniors and run programs in instruction, competitive racing, and community outreach for children 7 years through 12th grade. In 2018 we served 700 children in the summer sailing program, provided coaching for talented Youth Sailing Race Teams, and have been hosting multiple South Bay High School Sailing Teams at our Sailing Center.
Now past its 40th year, KHYF offers a full range of private and group sailing programs for all ability levels at the King Harbor Yacht Club in the King Harbor Marina in Redondo Beach, CA. As well as boat rentals for adults who are members of KHYC.
Our New Channels program serves individuals who would not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy a day on the ocean. The Foundation puts its resources to work with a large group of non-profit organizations, taking their members out for a custom on water boating experience in the King Harbor channel, with brief interludes into the ocean. Participants have the opportunity to kayak, sail and ride around in a motorboat. It's also a great volunteer opportunity for our participants as well!
The Foundation supports the sailing program through annual grants, generous friends and tax deductible equipment donations, program fees, an annual Open House with an auction & other fundraising efforts.

US Sailing's Community Sailing Accreditation Program identifies and accredits those community sailing programs that are offering the highest level of boating education and public access across the United States. By accrediting programs that only meet the highest standards, as set forth in the application process, the Program aims to offer a national standard for community sailing programs. Accredited programs use US Sailing Certified instructors, have detailed emergency and safety procedures, use curricula that meets US Sailing's teaching standards, and are properly insured.
