ABOUT KHYF RACING 
​​Being a member of the KHYF Race Team is a great next step from our Opti Race Team or High School racing for those sailors who are ready to advance into different racing styles.  Our KHYF Race team competes in regattas with CFJs (FJs with Spinnaker sails), Keelboats, Team Racing and other high performance boats.  Options include 29ers, ILCAs (Lasers) and Martin 242's where we can help make connections for sailors to explore new experiences.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT KHYF RACING

Sailors may be invited to the KHYF Race Team after spending time on the Opti Race or High School teams where they have demonstrated competitiveness, skill, passion and Corinthian Spirit.  These teams are all separate from each other, but there is crossover so sailors can participate in multiple teams at once.  With one practice per week, it is designed to offer a manageable schedule that can build on other team practices.  In addition, sailors do not compete in affiliation with their high school so they can sail with anyone which also gives them great exposure to a variety of skills and styles.  As a member of the KHYF Race Team, sailors can be honored with the SCYYRA and are also eligible to win perpetual trophies at our Winter Awards Banquet at the end of the season.  

PARENT PARTICIPATION

Parent Volunteers are a Critical Part of the Team
It takes a village to ensure our sailors are successful so we need regular support from ALL team parents.  There are multiple ways you can volunteer which allows you to choose the role that suits your strengths and availability:
  • Tow a trailer with race boats or coach boats to and from regattas.
  • Become a Team Parent to help organize regattas for the group.
  • Help support KHYF hosted regattas at King Harbor Yacht Club:
  •               - Check-in and Registration, purchase food, prepare snacks for sailors, sell food or KHYF merchandise
                  - Ramp Supervisor at dock, help children launch boats, clear away dollies
  • ​Join fundraising committees to help organize events and secure auction items, etc. 
  • ​Help get the word out about KHYF to gain support and donors.​
