Summer Sailing



Summer Sailing 2013

Join us for a summer of Sailing and Fun in the Sun in beautiful King Harbor, Redondo Beach! Learn to sail on your very own Optimist sailboat, provided courtesy of the King Harbor Youth Foundation.

The KHYF Summer Sailing Program teaches children of all ages and ability levels the skills and knowledge needed for a lifetime of sailing and ocean experiences.  Classes are friendly and provide a low-pressure environment where children can learn, make friends, build confidence, and have tons of fun!

 We have 4 two-week sessions available:

    Session 1  -  June 24 to July 3  (No sailing July 4 or 5)
    Session 2  -  July 8 to July 19  (No sailing July 12)
    Session 3  -  July 22 to August 2  (No sailing July 26)
    Session 4  -  August 5 to August 14  (No sailing August 15-Fun Day, Beginner only August 16, No other classes-Awards Banquet)

    • "FUN DAY": August 15 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM
      • Sailors from ALL sessions are given one last day of fun before the end of the summer!  Activities include relay races, egg toss, watermelon water polo, and more.  Lunch and goodies are included.  Cost is $15 per person.  Please be sure to add this to your cart when you register!
    • "Awards Banquet and BBQ": August 16 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
      • Following a BBQ on the east patio of KHYC, awards will be given to ALL sailors attending the Awards Banquet.  Who was the most improved sailor?  Who won the "Bailer Award?"  Who was the best Girl?  Find out who won these awards, as well as MANY more, and take one last chance to say goodbye to your friends and instructors.  FREE for all summer sailors.  Friends and family can join us for just $10 per person.  Add dinner for friends and family to your cart when you register!

    All boats and equipment are provided by the King Harbor Youth Foundation.  Students must provide his or her own U.S. Coast Guard Approved life jacket.

All courses are organized by the King Harbor Youth Foundation(501c3) and hosted by King Harbor Yacht Club. Sailing and instruction will take place at King Harbor Yacht Club and Introductory classes take place inside the calm waters of the King Harbor Marina.
