New Channels
New Channels is a program developed as an avenue to get individuals on the water that would not otherwise have the opportunity. The Foundation puts its resources to work with many diverse groups, taking their members out for a boating experience in the King Harbor channel, with brief interludes into the ocean. These activities are provided free of charge to groups including inner-city kids, at-risk youngsters, abused children, disabled/challenged individuals and many others. New Channels is geared to ages ten to eighteen, but open to all that fit the need. Sessions range about two hours and include activities such as sailing, power boating and kayaking. Before each session, participants begin with a brief lesson about the activity and safety, and conclude with a social period.
